There is No User Manual for Dying when You Have Much to Do.

It is in the wee hours of the morning when we feel most vulnerable and most alone.   It is 4.30 am and I am sitting at the computer (which is on a hospital bed stand) and wondering about so many thing - about how angry I am deep down inside, at what I am angry at ... what I could have done or not have done in my life - and wondering about my list of to-do now and if I will get through it all.   And then I wonder if what I need to do has any importance for anyone else other than for me.  Is it my need to achieve that spurs me on when the right thing would be to do nothing; to lie in bed and to read and to let the world pass me by and then slowly slip into the next life?
Patrick is asleep beside me and I am loath to wake him up - he works like a Trojan and he is no youngster.   It is hard to start all over again at the age of 60 but I am so proud of him.   He does so much for me that when he gets irritated with me, I have to understand how difficult this all is for him too.
After all the angst of yesterday (mine), I sit here this morning and try to find some sort of balance in my life.   I think what I have found and am sharing here will be good for all of us to read.   My fear that I don't have enough time to do what needs to be done has made me jittery, irritable, impatient and I think, quite rude and obnoxious at times.   I know this is happening to me, but there is no recipe for dying when you have so much to do.  And I am unable to stop my irritability with people – those on FB, on groups and those who are close to me like my mother and my husband.  Friends …. Well, friends are just that.  They are there when life is filled with fun but when you look around yourself in an hour of need, you find there is no one.   Some will pass on some nice words to give you strength (or so they think) but no one will think that to make me a cup of tea would be the greatest gift of all.  I am so dependent and that is hard – so fucking hard because I have been able to do everything for myself for so long.
I have to get Heinrich van Rooyen out of prison because he is there for life for crimes he did not commit.  No one else knows the case as well as I do.  So if I die today, he just stays there until maybe another Dianne comes along to go trawling through the paperwork again.
Then I am doing what I think no one else has ever thought of doing – and that is making a military, SAP, veterans three-layered quilt using t-shirts that have been worn and loved by the men, including a number of “Free Eugene de Kock” t-shirts.  This project depends on how much help and assistance I get from the vets because they have to send me the t-shirts that they have loved wearing – the quilt will be made up of these veterans t-shirts.   It will then go on auction on the various FaceBook groups to raise funds so that Eugene de Kock has a retirement fund.  Quilts are very valuable and rare – the most expensive cost of one at auction could have bought a decent sized house for cash with some change left over.   So that is my project number 2.
Then, there are my own two books that need to be finished and published.  The one is almost ready for the printing and the other is going to be one on the imprisonment of Heinrich van Rooyen and what went down when the two girls were murdered in Knysna in 2005.   The horror of how justice was made to dance to the tune of those with money and drugs and power is a story that needs to be told.  I am writing it in such a way that it will be interviews with those closely involved with Heinrich and the heads of argument that would be what should have been put to the Constitutional Court – so if nothing else, that book can be taken by any advocate or lawyer or even layperson and an appeal can be made to re-open and re-examine the case of the murdered girls.  What I have to say about that is mind-blowing.  While Heinrich is not the killer – I do know who is.  I have, because of my activism, been the victim of threats of violence and death before, so what is happening now and the threats I am getting from those with the most to lose when this book is printed does not scare me in the least.  I have nothing to lose and they say that the person with nothing to lose is the one who is most dangerous of all.
Then there are the projects that others are helping me with and which will continue after my death.   a) Co-op for women who are extremely talented and who need a platform to market their crafts and goods b) a care worker and person needing caring to be put together that both parties are happy because right now, the agencies are making a fortune out of people who are struggling financially and the carer is getting less than 10% of what the agency chargers and c) taking the specialist physician to court for having neglected me to the point that at least six months of my life has been lost.  That doctor must answer to the degrading and humiliating behaviour she tried on me – by using her index finger and turning it around while it is pointed at her ear – intimating that there is nothing wrong with me and I should see a psychiatrist.  Well, I saw the psychiatrist who called in a few physicians and they all say that they have never seen such a neglected patient ever and are happy to be called to any law court to verify how I had been treated and neglected.  That story is enough for another whole book.  But Patrick carries the anger of all of that.
In between all this, I must be the strong one for my mother who is 86 and suffering from CCF whose husband of 30 years is also dying of cancer although he is a lot more difficult to deal with than I am.  My poor, poor mother – her oldest child and her husband dying of cancer and the child being so impatient with her and her husband’s bullshit.  He is not the only person who has lung cancer … there you have it, the anger coming out again.  Give my mother a break you miserable and selfish old miser!!
I think this is the last big thing I am doing and that is completing the proof=reading, editing and publishing of other people’s books.  But all these things bring me a certain amount of joy – not everything is drudgery.   I am just so very tired and overwhelmingly exhausted and frustrated that I cannot even wash myself.  Even a toothbrush and basin has to be brought to my bed and slowly...slowly a carer (her name is Zandi) will help me up and get me going on whatever needs to be done next.  She is my other set of eyes, my arms and my medication dispenser.  She is the one who gives me bed baths and changes my pull up nappies.   I am incontinent in my sleep – and it is the nature of the illness.
So…this is my life.  BUT, as I have told my doctor, that just because no one else has survived this, that does not mean that I won’t be the first.

EUGENE DE KOCK - Part 12

Eugene, Vos and Conrad
From here on out, Conrad was the real hero.  He took my calls, he kept in touch with me and he found EdK and facilitated his first meeting with his family.  This photo was taken on that day.  PP was also there but from my informant, she walked around smoking and was not invited into the circle of the family.  Even at this stage, Elmarie de Kock was giving me some real awful inbox messages.   I could not understand where the hostility was coming from.  From her point of view only PP was allowed into the family circle and I was to leave them all alone.  Can you imagine if I had walked when I first started getting her vicious inbox messages.  Nothing more would have been done and Conrad would not have been our hero.
Conrad Kruger wrote this to Ben on 13 May, 2015 at 1:27AM.
Beste Ben
Hier gou 'n "update" dat jy weet wat my beplanning is:
1. Die afspraak met Eugene (en Regter vd Merwe) is bevestig vir Sondag;
2. Ek sal 'n geseëlde koevert met dokumente en insluitend jou e-pos aan
Eugene oorhandig;
3. Ek sal deur Adv Jaap Cilliers uitvind oor Adv Roelof du Plessis se
"rekening". Hul sit in dieselfde gebou;
Conrad
My email to Ben on the 13 May was:
I have taken not one penny or enriched myself from my association with this cause in any way.
The unpleasant character assassination via TM, JK, Annemarie Jansen and Elmarie de Kock of me is totally unacceptable.  (The Save Dianne Lang fund raising initiative was done without my knowledge and I had no access to that page – I did however, every week, send a list of donations through to Maria Bezuidenhout).
Jim Hooper paid 125 pounds into my UK account which I used to purchase another air purifier for my room that has to be sterile if I am not to pick up a germ.   What this has got to do with Anemari Jansen is beyond me.
Apart from you, the above, Gert Fouche and the Balsak fonds - no one has donated much other than the first month when I received a few thousand rand in R100 donations.
Since a bone marrow transplant is no longer possible due to a failed bone marrow and immune system, perhaps the Save Dianne Lang group should be closed.  The immune cell donor implants every 2nd week can keep me alive another 2 years IF I do not pick up a germ.  That is the latest news on my health. (I am now officially the longest living person on replacement IVIG)
Sure, we don't have money and all my savings have been swallowed up with medical bills.  We truly live from hand to mouth and the money that has been given to me has made a huge difference to the quality of life.  I would not have the air purifiers, the oxygen cylinders, the wheelchair or the medication that alleviates the worst pain if it were not for the generosity of people.  I have even been able to have a carer to help me bath, change linen etc. three times a week.   And I am deeply grateful for the gifts.
However, the very last thing I would have wanted is to be blamed for using EdK as a way of making myself rich.  I find the very suggestion nauseating.
Perhaps it is time for me to bow out gracefully - I have no regrets about fighting for Eugene.  I have done all I could and I know that I have not benefitted by one penny through this cause of EdK and his freedom.
I am deeply saddened by the character assassination of me via TM, JK, Anemarie Jansen and Elmarie de Kock.
Always with loyalty to you Ben
With love MC xxxx

EUGENE DE KOCK - Part 11

Picture taken while still in prison but helping prosecutors (illegal photo)
Eugene was missing !!!! And no one knew where he was, where he had gone to; his family had not heard from him and his clothing was still in his cell.  Three months went by and still no one knew where he was.  Obviously I was beside myself with worry because it could quite easily have been that he had been taken out and his lawyer, JK, did not even know where his client was.  It was then that I contacted Conrad.  Most of my dealings with Conrad was by mobile phone while Ben and Conrad Kruger communicated via email.
Apart from making my daily phone call and my daily email to the presidency, I was also getting myself involved in anything that I thought might help Eugene in any way.  I remember phoning and then writing to the Shadow Minister of Correctional Services.  He was a total waste of time, telling me that the law had to take its course and there was nothing he could do.  I found that a pathetic excuse for a Member of Parliament.  My frustration level was beyond description.  No one seemed to be taking me seriously.  PP would also not respond when I tried to friend her on FB (she blocked me) or inboxing her.
I hunted down Adriaan Vlok and got his home telephone number.  I phoned him a couple of times, but the first phone call is stuck in my memory.  When I asked him if he could do anything  to help Eugene, he told me that Eugene could rot in jail – quick off the mark, I said that I hoped HE rotted in hell.  Such a heated argument I realized would not assist me in getting information on Eugene so the following evening, putting my pride in my pocket, I played the Christian role – the one that Adriaan played.  I reminded him about washing the feet of Frank Chikane and then asked if he thought that Eugene too could not be given a second chance.  All I got from him was a promise to pray for Eugene.  I felt like saying that his prayers were too poisonous, but left it at that.  Not even my contact in DCS knew where he had gone to other than telling me that 3 men took him out of his cell and never returned him.  All Eugene's belonging were still in his cell. Trying to deal with TM was a waste of time.  He knew nothing other than the fact that he still held our t-shirts.  His promises were pie crusts, melting in the mouth before taking a bite.  It was at this point that I found out that he had only recently been visiting EdK and NOT since he had been in prison as the media wrote.

EUGENE DE KOCK - PART 9

The very sad part of this story is the fact that we had to destroy everything ever written on our group about Eugene.  I felt that it was an unfair request given the timespan we had to do it in.  Without those details, it is difficult for me to remember everything that went on.  Although I remember a lot, it would have been better if we had those posts as a reminder of what went down.  Even still, Eugene could now have seen how hard we worked for him and where TM, JK and PP entered the game.   Ben believes that Eugene knows what he is doing with the previously mentioned people, but I do not agree.  Eugene has been institutionalised and he is a very private person – who would he or could he have trusted other than those three who popped up long after the dance had started.
I now have to rely on the emails to remind me of all that happened.  When one is in the middle of a war, we don’t remember the individual bullets and that is what has happened to me.
JK was pushing hard for money from the group.  On the 21 April 2015, I received an email from JK.  I am going to type out the email so that you can see what a slimy character we were dealing with.
Hi Dianne
Please see the email that I sent to Piet Croucamp.  I was under the impression that the was handling the money situation.  I double whether there is sufficient money to cover the total bill but what I suggested was that we see how much has been collected and then negotiate with counsel regarding his fee.  (All the fees were for the state and not for the advocate nor JK.  I have dealt with many parole hearing issues and have never heard of a prisoner having to pay) As for the last weeks work Gene had R10 000.00 paid in (by us)   R1000.00 went (sic)the sheriff for urgent service and copies.
Counsel and I spent 2 full days in court.  This excludes the drafting the day before.
We are meeting with Gene tomorrow.  I however don’t know what is going on and still have not received his parole conditions.
In short I don’t know what to say about getting Gene out and what we will still need to do.  I am enclosing for your information a copy of the Application.  I look forward to hearing from you.  Best regards, Julian”.
One of the emails he forwarded to me was dated 13 February 2015 which reads:  “Dear Piet, Advocate Roelof Du Plessis contacted me to ask what the situation was with regard to the payment of his account or a portion thereof is.  Can you please let me know what the situation is regarding this.  Best regards”
On 21 April 2015, I sent an email to Ben Kruger, Dewaldt Louw and James Marx.  “Gentlemen, I have got this out of JK by playing his game.  Please peruse everything carefully and remember that the last application – the costs went to the state. (why then was he asking for money when the state paid for the parole hearing?) I have forwarded all the legal documents to another criminal lawyer who has been in practice since 1991.  He knows E personally and was with him as a policeman at Vlakplass.  I will hear from him later today or night with how we can proceed”.  I then attached the documents showing that Clive Derby-Lewis was also being represented by JK (and I had been told that EdK had specifically requested that JK not represent any other person) and that the money requested was also for Derby-Lewis.
Ben’s response to me was:  “There is just no more money. Period.  Piet Croucamp is welcome to raise whatever he wants, but as far as I am concerned our group has been tapped dry.    Ben had not given much thought to the attached papers and answered me too quickly.  Thus, I had to explain in my next contact with him.
“Ben…but this game I played to get this info out of JK. All I said is that Piet does not hold the keys to the group or the money. The money is not the problem – the problem is for us to get someone else to take over because JK obviously does not give a continental shit.  Even his argument (in my limited knowledge) is flawed in the papers.  Apart from that – how the fuck could he charge the charges he has charged??
Please go through the documents careful and give me a way forward.  If we do not get JK removed and someone else onto this, we may as well wave goodbye to Eugene.  See us all back in the same damned place in six months time.  MC
This was a very busy day for me – the 21st April.  My next message to the gentlemen after I researched case law was this, “…it is the legal documents that go with it that is of concern to me.  How to get him out without JK being involved.  How do I get E to fire JK.  I have someone who can go and be at JK’s offices tomorrow when E is supposed to be present – but I don’t trust the time frame and therefore need someone to sit there with JK until E arrives and before they go back to court.  I have a criminal lawyer who is prepared to take on the case tonight after he has perused the documents…was all geared up to go this morning and now I can’t even get out of the fucking bed.  I am so frustrated with this”.
It was at this point that we hatched the plan to pull Eugene out and no one knew about it, least of all Ben, Dewaldt and James Marx.
Ben did send me a rather telling email “…and remind him (JK) that he told Piet Croucamp  in the beginning that he would take the case for free because he will get a lot of publicity if successful”.   Ben did not think it was prudent to change lawyers at that stage but I knew that we would lose the parole hearing – which is exactly what happened on the reasons I thought it would happen.  So back to prison went Eugene.    And now Ben told me that I could tell JK to go jump in a lake … I wanted him to drown.  I am not a lawyer but I had spent 7 years on this case so I was very clued up on the parole process – I knew that JK had fucked up and that Eugene was going to go back to prison.  I was right but it gave me no satisfaction because we were back at square one.  I was frustrated and angry because I knew that JK was fucking up big time, I could not get to see EdK myself and all his visits were being controlled by TM, PP and JK.
In the meantime, Eugene was being used by the prosecutors to sort out cold case files. He was taken out of prison by the prosecutors a number of times to help them.  Sadly, after I was asked to remove all trace of Eugene on FB, I also, once he was properly free (and I will explain that properly later) I destroyed the photographs that I had of Eugene when he was still in prison with a group of prosecutors.
I still get very angry when I hear the words “prime evil”.  He deserves a pardon – even if he is out on parole (and who knows what those conditions are apart from him not being allowed to speak to the public?)   Eugene will unfortunately never know how hard and how many people were rooting for him.
When I was first asked by JK to remove the FB group, my response was “Not a fuck.  Not until I hear it from the mouth of Eugene de Kock myself”

EUGENE DE KOCK - PART 7

EdK visitng his brother and family for the first time after parole
First let me tell you why we have not heard from Eugene.  He has been guarded with four guards 24/7 and has been unable to do his own thing; hence his two hour incarceration in prison the other week.   He was trying to get himself out of this “witness protection” process and actually be as free as he can be, given his parole restrictions.  This time, JK came to the rescue.  I do not know if JK was paid or not.
The real reason Eugene has not contacted us, even those who he are closest to, is two-fold.  First there was his 24/7guards and then there is his idea that if he makes contact with us, it will make life difficult for us and he is trying to protect us.  Well, bless his heart, but I don’t need protection.
The more time that went past, the more crap that I was getting from JK regarding Eugene (because he said a lot of words that meant nothing), the more frustrated I became.  Then a few of us pulled together to free Eugene ourselves.  The integrity of these few people who were prepared to put their lives on the line to free him speaks volumes.  We knew the difficulty, we knew the layout, we knew the problems we would encounter and we knew the punishment or otherwise that we would be facing if the plan failed.  It is so sad that this part of the story never got to reach the ears of even Ben – there are people out there that were prepared to bring Eugene out of prison and hide him for an indefinite period of time.  That I call determination and dedication to make sure that one of our soldiers were not  left behind.
A lot of energy and organising went into that.  The only thing I told Ben was that “I think we should go in and take him out ourselves”   He nearly had a heart attack on the spot.  “Don’t even think about it MC” he said – giving me the same story of how close we were to his parole.  I, of course, was happy to run with it, but only until a certain date.  If the judge did not grant him his parole, we were going to take him out ourselves.  It was a decision that had already been  taken.  Every single thing that I had tried had not worked, so the final deadline was the judgement of the judge at his final parole hearing.
For those who do not remember, there were many parole hearings and the reasons that they were denied were varied, but the one just before the last one is what sent our blood pressure soaring.   The reason given was that he had not spoken to all his victims.  That was a blatant lie.  The fact that the Correctional Services had not made adequate note of his dealings with his victims was a disgrace.  For me personally, I felt that they were using Eugene as a scapegoat for everything bad in a white man while Mandela was being paraded around as everything good in a black man.  To think that the highest decorated policeman ever in South Africa, Eugene, was languishing in a prison for no other reason than political and racist reasons was abhorrent to me.  Our plan to hijack and hide Eugene was fool proof – no one would ever have found him.   In retrospect, I am sorry we did not go through with our plan.  The prison conditions were appalling.  He was often ill with flu or bronchitis and his eyes were a constant source of concern.   Giving what went down from before the final announcement by the judge on his parole, I truly am sorry we did not take him out ourselves.  At least then we could have nurtured him and given him space and time to heal without guards, TM and PP hanging around.
JK was still calling me and asking me for money to pay the outstanding bill. And because I was pretending to be doff, I asked him to email me the statement and I would discuss it with our committee to see if we had enough to pay him.   He was evading the actual amount, but the following emails are the kinds of emails I was getting; trying to show me that huge amounts of money were outstanding.   I also found his approach to the parole conditions completely wrong – I made it my business to know the law on prisoners and parole so it did give me some right (although I only voiced this to Ben) to say that I believed he was fucking Eugene’s chances up.
I include some self-explanatory emails that were being used to keep me guessing while they kept on asking for money:

EUGENE DE KOCK - PART 6pp

pp
I never received the letter below – I only received a copy of it closer to the time that Eugene was released.  It was on this letter that I was being advised by Ben and Marx (and always Miempie in the background not wanting to be involved but being involved anyway.  That is why I could say to Ben and Marx, “Fuck that – I will do what I want and if Eugene phones me then I will shut up and until then I will not be stopped”.   Miempie visited EdK from the beginning of his imprisonment .  She was the one person that EdK could have trusted and not TM because he only started visiting EdK three years before his release.  I worked on this case for 7 years.   This is also why I have little time for PP.  She came in right at the end and for her own selfish needs.  I felt throughout his incarceration that the enemy (those working not in his interest – in this case TM) was manipulating the visits and no one was doing things (other than the women I spoke of previously) solely on compassionate grounds.  Everyone who was visiting was there for some bizarre and obscure reason, but NOT for the benefit of this lone prisoner.   And it made me de moer in.  On the many occasions that Ben and I spoke to one another, Ben would always tell me that Eugene was not stupid and that he was in control over TM, PP & Co.    But I knew what an institutionalized brain does to a person – I knew what isolation does to a prisoner.   And that is why I was getting so frustrated with these people who appeared to be doing good and all the ‘thank you’ that landed on our page lauding their service to Eugene.
To this day I believe that those who have surrounded him (other than the four guards who monitored him 24/7) are not genuine.  The period between May of 2015 and January of 2016 was an exciting and nail-biting time for Ben and me (by this stage I was only tolerating James Marx – he was there only because Ben put him there.  I would never have chosen such a person.  I am a good judge of character and it was proved at the end that James Marx was not the kind of person we needed on board)  It was James who would delete my posts because I was being too truthful.  Well, fuck him now.
Here is the letter the others got that I only saw around December 2015.

Date: 11 MAY 2015
Dear Sirs
FACEBOOK GROUP : FREE EUGENE DE KOCK
1.      The writer hereof acts on the instruction of Eugene Alexander De Kock.
2.      We confirm that you are the administrators of the Facebook Group “Free Eugene De Kock” and this letter is addressed to you in that capacity. (Wonder who he thought I was? So unimportant to them that he could not even address a letter to me)
3.      Namely the
4.      Our client wishes to keep the conditions of his parole confidential but also wishes to thank all of the members of the Facebook group for their assistance and support in the past.
5.      Our client has further instructed ourselves that it has come to his knowledge that the Facebook Group is being used for the purposes of collecting “legal fees “for his release, subsequent to the date of his release namely the 30th January.   (It was Knight was squealing for money via his phone calls to me – telling me that his account was outstanding of R20 000.  However, the advocate had done all the work pro-bono.  Further to this, it was an agreement that Knight do the work for nothing based on the fame he would achieve by taking on a prominent case of a legendary man).
6.      Dianne Lang advised the writer hereof that deposits had been made up to the late of the last Application some two weeks ago.  If this is the case all Fundraising must now stop. (Funny how you know this and it is in May 2015 but release date in January 2016.  When he spoke to me he asked me how much money we had.  I did not know as Miempie controlled the monies coming in and only paid out on instruction from Eugene.  Further to this, Miempie always let one of us know so that we could put a thank you onto the page for the donor.  JK was looking for money to pay the legal fees of the Advocate because the advocate had not been paid a cent yet.  He was very adamant and demanding on the numerous times he called me asking for money – more on the money issue later)
7.      Further to the above, to (sic) our client is concerned regarding comments made by members of the site, that the site is currently being used to advance certain political objectives and/or to reflect Government in a negative way.  (What bullshit)
8.      Whilst our client recognises the rights of citizens to express their views, he is uncomfortable with these views being expressed in his name or that he be associated therewith.
9.      You will no doubt be mindful of the political sensitivity that our client enjoys given his background and the offences for which he was convicted and his conditions of parole.
10.  In the light of this, it would seem that the purpose of the Facebook Group, to free our client has now been achieved and it is our client’s view that there is no further need for it to continue.
11.  We would be pleased if you would kindly advise ourselves what the attitude of the Administrators are with regard to the closure of this Facebook Group is,
Failing which our client will be compelled to take this matter up with Facebook.
12.  We would be pleased if you would kindly acknowledge receipt of this letter.
Yours faithfully

EUGENE DE KOCK - PART 5

If you have only joined the story now at Part 5, I suggest you go back to Part 1 and read because certain people had certain code names.   Another thing, enough time has gone by that what I share makes no difference at all.  We are still (I hope) a group with integrity and compassion – although there is always a rat in the mix.  I hope that the rats get trapped into cages never to see the light of day. May they experience even one third of the trauma that Eugene de Kock suffered in prison.
In May2015, it was discussed (between me, Ben and Marx) whether to start slowing down the nagging and letter writing process regarding Eugene de Kock’s parole.  I cannot remember the words verbatim, but it went somewhere along the lines of it being dangerous/political and maybe detrimental to Eugene; and maybe we were making it more difficult for him.   Now I have never met Eugene, except when he phoned me many months later… but that is another story.    It was suggested that I temper down my posts and try to stay calm and smooth the waters.  Well, me being me, I thought that was for the birds and balls to the wall I said “Not a fuck!!!  We carry on until Eugene de Kock tells me with his own mouth to stop”.   From that date to the date when the world heard about his parole – a million and one things happened.  I could write a book on it all that would make Jansen’s book pale in comparison.  It was cloak and dagger – there were spies, double-agents and spooks.  I did not even trust Ben and certainly did not trust Marx – We all had our own informers in various places.  So I would act dumb until I was told something of an extremely sensitive nature and would very calmly say, “I know – I heard it week before last”.  Shit, I loved doing that to the main dudes that counted.
I was not getting better and spending a lot of time in hospital.   Eugene’s story because the reason for me to get up in the morning.  Often, it was my dedication and hate of injustice that pushed me to  the point of exhaustion…straight back into hospital… but would at the same time move me back into the stream of life.  My life has always been to live for something bigger than myself, and Eugene’s situation was indeed bigger than myself.  Not for a moment did I believe that I could have taken that small little group of three to where we went and how we got there.  It is very sad that we were forced to delete everything from our group page because that would have been a fantastic book.  But more on the reason for that will be revealed at a later stage.   I was driven and determined.  I could not let one day go by without doing some research, making one phone call, writing another letter, motivating the group or speaking with the president’s office.   I entertained officials of the ANC in my bedroom – begging and pleading for a pardon or at least a parole.   I knew things long before anyone else, although Ben would get direct info on Eugene; I was getting info from the political sphere.   The story gets more interesting from here – so stay with me while I spill the beans on treacherous behaviour from where it was least expected.

I do not want to share certain information on FaceBook and would like to only use my diannelang.blogspot.co.za to tell my story, so I would appreciate it if you are interested to please enter your email address into the blog page.

Eugene de Kock - Part 4

Candice Mama & Eugene de Kock
The phone calls that I was getting from JK were increasing and every time it had to do with money.  Eventually, playing like I was the dumb arse he thought I was, I asked him to email me his account so that I could discuss it with Ben and then we could see what we could do about it.
While waiting for the “account”, lots of other things were going down.  Two women were of great help in getting Eugene care for his eyes, and the other getting him the things he needed.  These women were Nandi and Hannelie.   The prison conditions were ghastly.  He was cold in winter and could only wear white track tops without any markings on them.  The women went to town hunting down white track tops that were in line with the prison rules.   These people who worked behind the scenes are really the unsung heroes.  Not a single shop in the whole of the country had the required tops so a tailor offered to make the two tops and one of the ladies donated the material.  Then the problem was to get the tops to him.  The tops lay in the warden’s office for six months while Eugene had to write for permission to obtain these items.
Getting Eugene to his eye examinations also presented a problem.  He had to pay for his own guards, the transport and the examination and treatment.  All would be organised from our side and then the guards that we had paid for did not turn up.  The frustrations were getting beyond a joke and I was starting to lose my cool – again behind what I was putting out there.
Eugene’s visitors were also restricted to a certain number per month and per year and those visits had to include the legal visits.  TM was always going and of course, he took PP with him to one of the visits.  EdK’s visits were all booked up for the year but little pussy had to get herself in there and next to him.  This was after I had already explained that visits should be restricted for those who could actually help him instead of just visiting out of curiosity.   While Nandi and Hannelie were working their arses off for Eugene without anyone knowing, this PP was brushing up her ego by getting close to him via another ego conduit, TM.
EdK was institutionalised and vulnerable and she took advantage of that.  I can’t like her.  After reading her book (in Afrikaans nogal) sent to me by Hannelie, I liked her even less.
On another level completely, amazing things were happening between the men and women from the various armed forces.  People who were previously enemies  were not only talking to one another, but were also standing up to be counted, with respect and acknowledgement of the roles each played during the Rooi Gewaar years, and as one harmonious voice to ask for pardon for EdK.  Individual and petty problems were set aside and under the universal umbrella of compassion, stood as one in our appeal for a pardon for Eugene.     Truly miraculous things were happening all the time and I was granted a ring side view of the lives of many via inbox.  Those secrets I will take to my grave.  And those who told can be assured of nothing but my utmost respect.   I know when to shut my mouth, believe it or not.

My journey with Eugene started in a hospital bed in England with a book (A human being died that night) and ended 7 years later in a hospital bed in South Africa.  It was one hell of a ride.  I am not going to regurgitate kak that you can read on google – I am going to continue to tell this story as it happened to me and in connection with me.   And only I know what I know and what I don’t know.  What Ben Kruger knows and does not know is the same – we still dance at the same level as we did during what I call “the eye of the storm”- those last 8 months.

Eugene de Kock - Part Two

I know the reason why he has not contacted his friends.  I know the reason why he has not made an appearance to many of those he knows on our Free Eugene de Kock page.  And I am going to tell you everything I know over the next couple of posts about what went down before his actual release.  Some of the things I am going to tell you may just land me in hot water, but then again, I seem to continuously be in shit street.
During the time when we were still trying to get Eugene out, we had given some of the main players nicknames that only a few of us know about.  One of the main players, as you all know, was Kopdoek.  Everyone knew him by that name, but I gave him another name which was TM.  TM stood for Table Mountain because his ego was that big.  This is how we communicated – via inbox and by using nicknames.  Inbox was also the safest way to communicate that the authorities would not know what we were up to.  But even then, to make sure that the intelligence fellows were not getting our info, we wrote our inbox messages without punctuation – punctuation helps them to decode messages.    Then there was Julian Knight … more about him later.  And then there was the Jansen woman (who ultimately wrote a pathetic, in my view, book about Eugene).  She wanted me to organise a trip to visit him and when I refused, she found another way of getting to him.  Long before she did a thing, I knew what she was up to.  I called her PP for plastic p$%s.  And if you are honest and you have done the research, you will see just how pathetic that book of hers was – she gathered stuff from google, had a few picnics with him and hallelujah – an accomplished writer.  What kak!   She gave nothing  - she took from him.  And because of that, I have no time for her, as she has no time for me.  The feelings are mutual.

Ben Kruger had his spies, I had my spies and James Marx … I never trusted him so shared nothing with him.    It was always a good laugh when Ben and I shared something with one another – and then we would find that we both had the same information and then we could take it as being the truth.  If our information differed, the information was unreliable.

Eugene de Kock - Part One

I said that I would not write a thing about Eugene once he was out – I have changed my mind.  I am going to tell you what went down over the months before his release.

One of the first things I am going to tell you is why we changed the name of Eugene’s page so fast. In fact, James Marx was so de moer in with me for doing what I was told to do and I could not tell him why…he left the group and blocked me as a friend. Big deal ~ I did not cry over that one.  I have no time for adult cry-babies.   There were far more important things at stake than being concerned with someone’s ego.  And there have been very big egos in the story of Eugene de Kock.   There was a lot of information that we knew and a lot of things going down behind the scenes that we could not divulge to the public because we had spies and double-agents in the group.  Those we knew … we played into their hands, knowing what we were doing.  Oh!  The glory of the Art of War.  We kept our secrets, played our games and now they still think he may be the centre of a white revolution. Hence all the media regarding him being asked to speak at functions and being asked to leave before entering the door.  They are looking at the wrong person.  I am the dangerous one to watch.  I am the centre of the white revolution, the black revolution, the mixed race revolution and now also the rat revolution.    Over the next couple of posts, I am going to reveal to you what went down.  I hope you will stay with me for the ride.

Eugene de Kock's parole - and the FB fallout!

The fall out from the parole of Eugene de Kock has astounded me.  While thousands of people have rejoiced, there are those who have resorted to vile and hateful speech and threats.  As most of you know, I have championed the cause to see Eugene de Kock freed via social media only because it is the only thing that I can physically do.    I am overjoyed by his release.  However, the fight is far from over.  Parole is half free.  As Mandela himself said, there is no such thing as half-free.  You are either free or you are not.  And that is why he was given an unconditional release.   Since we do not yet know of the conditions of the parole, we must carry the torch to get a Presidential Pardon for Eugene.   Hopefully, he has been unconditionally released, in which case, our job is truly done.  If not, we will continue to lobby for a pardon for him.

While I am happy to answer inbox messages to the hundreds of people who inbox me about important things, I will NOT respond to inbox messages that contain nasty, untrue bullshit.  Why don't you call the President with your problems?  Don't make me the scapegoat for all your hateful racism or attempt to make me apologise for being white.

These white people that walk around being ashamed of being white, hanging their heads in shame about things that they had no power over, things that were done by their grandparents (well those in government), or asking forgiveness for their ancestors coming to this land, apologising profusely for apartheid as though they brought it into being (for those who do not know - apartheid was just an adaptation of the British colour bar laws) and who believe that they are inferior and that they must beg to live in the country of their birth ... go read Steve Biko's philosophy and put yourself into those shoes.  You will see that you are doing no one any favours by your pathetic, apologetic stance.  There is no greater weapon in an oppressors hand than the mind of an oppressed people.  You white apologetists (don't even know if that is a word) are oppressed in your own minds.  It is time that you caught a wake up, and started walking with your head held high.   Start taking responsibility for shaping and making our country work for all of us.   No one is going to respect you while you hang your head in shame.

You are not white, you are not black, YOU ARE A SOUTH AFRICAN.   Behave like one please.   We are one family.  We are one another's keeper.

The wings of a prayer for Eugene de Kock

Eugene de Kock
Three nights and three days to go until the final decision regarding Eugene's parole!

It has been a long struggle, with excitement interspersed with great disappointment, with emotions raging within our souls from anger to compassion, from impatience to feelings of hopelessness, but always we have stood up one more time than we fell down.
This has been the longest and most emotionally challenging cause I have taken on in my life.  I started out on this journey alone, because I could not find a single person who would run with such an unpopular subject.

I now find myself amongst the most compassionate group of people on earth.   I find myself witnessing a miracle, being in a group that has not been equalled in terms of being apolitical and non-racist - a group that is so diverse and yet stands together with a single voice and one single goal; to free Eugene de Kock.  If it were not for Eugene, I would not have experienced being part of this miracle.

My wish for Eugene is that he experiences freedom in all its forms, and that he has enough of everything he needs when he comes out.  May his life be filled with enough love, laughter, food, shelter, human companionship, sunshine, nature and, may he learn to trust again.   I would like to take this opportunity to thank Eugene for his life, for the sacrifices he made to ensure our safety during those years.  I want to thank him for his integrity, for telling the truth and for showing us the characteristics of a real warrior and a true gentleman.   And finally, I want to thank him for his life ... it is his life that gave me my passion back when I got sick.  It is his life that gave my life purpose.  It is his life that has made me fight as hard as I have for mine.

The final answer to Eugene’s freedom will be given by the Minister of Justice at 09h30 on Friday 20th January 2015.  While we all live with cautious optimism that his answer will be the right one, there is still many a slip between the cup and the lip
.
If the answer is NO, I will continue to fight.  But if the answer is YES, then my job is done.  A good leader knows when to step down.  I hope that I have been a good leader.  It will be time for someone else to pick up the baton and run with it for a Presidential Pardon.  I will continue to do what I can to make the pardon a reality, but some new blood, someone with more energy, someone who is not restricted by illness and who can travel and do what is needed, needs to take the lead.

Eugene, may your life continue to inspire.  As one of the many supporters of your freedom, Sydney Mhlongo told me, “A free de Kock may become the greatest ambassador of peace across the world, teaching people about hatred and how dangerous it is. This is the man who went through it all. Jail will never give him an opportunity to change a world suffering from racism.  Free him to teach us to free ourselves from racism”.

May your life be forever blessed, Eugene.  My gratitude and love always, Dianne
