Subject:  Presidential Pardon for Eugene de Kock

Dear Adv. Mhuaga
I would like to begin by thanking Minister Michael Masutha for giving Eugene de Kock parole. The public, understandably, know nothing about his parole conditions.  However, Mandela stated that there is no such thing as half-free. One is either free or one is not.  Parole is half-free.

It is with a humble heart that I ask you to please consider giving Eugene de Kock an unconditional release or Presidential Pardon.

As a previous warrior, His Excellency, President Zuma will understand that deep within every human heart lies generosity.  Previous enemies have respect for those who fought bravely on the other side.  Would you be kind enough to ask our President for a Presidential Pardon for Eugene de Kock please?  Or would you please consider an unconditional release for him?   This would be the final bridge we cross towards reconciliation for our beloved country.  It will also go a long way to healing the hearts of the thousands upon thousands of conscripted soldiers who fought so bravely in a war they were led to believe was right.

We humbly ask you to help our people heal from the scars we carry.  We will never forget what was done; more so that it is never repeated; but we need the generosity and the compassion of the ANC, the South African government, and her people, to make this possible.   Eugene de Kock has been made the epitome of everything that is evil in a white man by the media.  Only a Presidential Pardon can give us back our humanity as members of this nation.

We want to be a proud South Africans. We do not want to hang our heads in shame any longer.  We too, must stand up and take responsibility for eradicating hate and racism.  We too, must play our part in the reconciliation of our beloved land.  There can no longer be the oppressors and the oppressed.  We must be a proud nation, standing together with one voice, singing with abandon…Nkosi sikelel iAfrika!!

Thanking you in anticipation,
Yours truly

Dianne Lang
